The men and women who serve in the United States military, regardless of branch, deserve the honor, respect and thanks of a grateful nation. Especially those who have been wounded in the line of duty.
While no single act can truly thank the brave men and women who have served their country faithfully, we, as a nation, can at least provide them with greater opportunity here at home. Members of the military who were awarded the Purple Heart have demonstrated their faithfulness, honor, willingness to sacrifice everything for the protection of others. This scholarship program is dedicated to respecting and supporting that commitment.
Higher education is expensive and can run into the tens of thousands of dollars per year. The Montgomery G.I. Bill and the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill both provide a strong foundation for educational finance, but even these solid tools often fall short of footing the bill. This scholarship program provides financial support to service men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heard and are college bound.
The men and women who serve in the United States military providing emergency medical health services hold a very special place in the hearts of all combat veterans. Medic or Corpsman … regardless of branch of service … they are simply, “The Doc,” and are some of the most valued and revered members of every combat team.
Line medics keep the infantry on its feet! The carry a rifle and fight side by side with the combat forces which which they are embedded and to those who don’t know any better they are virtually indistinguishable from the infantry they bleed along side of. Even with the bullets still flying, the Medic’s job is to preserve life and protect his troopers.
This often means placing themselves directly in harms way to reach a wounded comrade or tending the wounds of a terrorist who, one minute earlier, had been trying to kill him.
It is a very special job that is performed by very special people.
As an infantryman, looking back, there is no group of soldiers more deserving of my respect and thanks.
While no single act can truly thank these brave men and women who have served their fellow soldiers and country so faithfully, we can at least provide them with greater opportunity here at home. Members of the military who were awarded the Combat Medic Badge (CMB) have demonstrated their faithfulness, honor, and willingness to sacrifice everything for the protection of others.
