The Custody X Change Giving Program Single Parent Scholarship

The Custody X Change Giving Program awards three scholarships to single parents each year.

To apply, email us at scholarships@custodyxchange.com, and attach the following:

  • A 400 to 500 word essay, "How will you use your education to improve your family?"
  • Your unofficial college transcript or admissions letter

The scholarship application window is open all year; each semester's application window opens right after the previous semester's deadline.

  • Amount: $1,000.00
  • Awards: 3
  • Deadline: Nov 30, -1

In order to qualify for the Custody X Change Single Parent Scholarship, you must:

  • Have primary physical custody of one or more minor children
  • Be enrolled full-time at an accredited college
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher or be a first year student

For any scholarship that you apply to, you can improve your chances of being selected by following all the instructions and crafting a message that stands out.
Tell your story
Tell your compelling story in a relevant way. Don't just state facts or talk about how much the award would help. Avoid the phrases "I deserve this because" and "Pick me".
Follow the word count
If the scholarship application has a word count, make sure you stick to it. Being outside of the word count will likely disqualify your application.
Double check your spelling and grammar
Double check your application for spelling and grammar. This includes the body of the email, your application and the filename of any attachments.
Follow all instructions
Make sure you submit all the requested information. Any documents should be attached to the email, not copied into the email body.
Know who you're talking to
Each scholarship is put on by a specific person or organization. Look at who it is and, if possible, address the email or other materials toward the persons.
